Yes dear readers, I have registered for the upcoming FSOT here in Santo Domingo in June. What’s the worst that could happen? I could become a Foreign Service Officer, I guess.
I’m shooting for the management cone, am brushing up on my current events and geography, and am hoping to shame my wife with my potential score if I make it to the orals. I’m not competitive……
Since this is a reasonably public blog, I’ll regale you with tales of my overwhelming successes in hopes that someday, with my stellar advice and ridiculously on-point insight, you too can become an FSO.
(Either that or I’ll do my best ostrich impression after I crash and burn. Outcome, obviously, TBD)
What the hell am I getting myself into?
Good luck!
After your utter disdain of the office politics of FSI, I have to say that I’m surprised. But then again, I’m not…I think it sounds like a great career. I took the FSOT last year and bombed so hard the computer who corrected my test laughed at me! Good luck!
D, my wife R is pointing your post out to me. Good luck to you. I think that I will apply for a specialist position sometime in the future, but for now I am happy with my EFM job.
